Naziv predavanja: Revealing social dimension of COVID-19 pandemic in Poland on the Internet with use of data science

Abstract:

Social behavior has a fundamental impact on the dynamics of infectious diseases (such as COVID-19), challenging public health mitigation strategies and possibly the political consensus (as protest movements). The aim of this study is to quantitatively investigate perception of COVID-19 in Polish traditional and social media (Twitter, Google, Youtube, Facebook, and selection of news articles) in the Internet by infodemiological approach. We attempt to analyze main discourses via natural language processing tools (such as topic modelling and sentiment analysis), multilayer and temporal network analysis of accounts/words/topics and time series analysis. Additionally, some datasets were labelled manually for training machine learning algorithms. Concluding, our project allows for real-time media perception surveillance with use of IT, thus our study would be a great supplement of ongoing longitudinal societal surveys.
